We’ve got a few hours to help secure vital funding for struggling farmers in the developing world. You, along with nearly 5,000 other ONE members across Europe, have already sent a letter to your finance ministers. The next step is to ask a friend to join you. Every voice counts in these last days, and convincing at least one friend to join you in taking action will double the impact of yours. To take action, send your friends to: www.one.org/international/billionministers/pt/?rc=bllnltrtaf On Friday, European finance ministers will decide both how much money to give, and where in the budget that money will come from. It’s up to us to convince them to give the full billion Euros originally proposed and desperately needed, and to make sure this money is completely additional development assistance. Now we just need to make sure our finance misters get the message. Please help us take the next step by getting your friends involved in this important initiative: www.one.org/international/billionministers/pt/?rc=bllnltrtaf Thank you for taking part, Roxane Philson, ONE.org
Dear Ana, Late last night, the EU finally agreed to provide 1 billion Euros of funding to struggling farmers in the developing world. Best of all, after crunching the numbers it looks like 76% of this funding will be new development assistance above and beyond what these countries currently give. This is a great result.
You and 15,000 other ONE members took part in the massive effort to make this happen. Thank you and congratulations for your part in this achievement.
While this was a challenging campaign, the EU has shown, for now, that it will not forget people living in extreme poverty during these difficult times. But there are still two tests that remain. Firstly, when these countries write the cheque they must not simply reallocate other development assistance to fulfill their commitment. Secondly, we'll be following the process to make sure the Commission spends these funds wisely. We’ll update you and let you know how you can help if any these countries backtrack on this new, desperately needed funding.
Thank you for your part in making this happen, Roxane Philson, ONE.org
45 E quem me vê a mim, vê aquele que me enviou.
